Itinerary:

Let's enjoy some afternoon sunshine with a hike through the Island Ford CRNRA. We will meet in the VISITOR CENTER PARKING LOT - the last parking lot at the end of the winding road after you enter the park. We'll then venture north along the Chattahoochee River before turning west along Summerbrook Creek. We will continue tromping through the woods and over a couple of bridges. We will loop around the lollipop, circling back to glimpse the river before proceeding back over the bridges again. We will backtrack just a short distance before branching off along Beech Creek. For the final section of the hike we will meander along the river, then stop at a scenic vantage point.

Near the end of our hike, we will find a spot to rest on the rocks along the riverbank for a few moments of quiet reflection.

"Oh, this ol’ river keeps on rollin’, though

No matter what gets in the way and which way the wind does blow

And as long as it does I’ll just sit here

And watch the river flow." ~Bob Dylan

Estimated distance for this hike is approximately 6 miles. Note this is not a beginner hike; we will take a few water breaks but keep a steady pace up and down the hills to get a good workout.
