Itinerary:

Let’s hike Eno River State Park in Durham, North Carolina! We will start our hike at the Pump Station trail and proceed to the last portion of the Laurel Bluffs Trail. We will go to the end of the park at Guess Road. Most of our hike will follow the Eno River. We will then turn around and return to the Pump Station Trail.

Laurel Bluffs Trail

The Laurel Bluffs Trail has three distinct parts. The last part of the trail is about 2.5 miles long that starts at the Pump Station trail. Trail Blaze: yellow circle

Pump Station Trail

The Pump Station Trail Loop is known as the best spring wildflower trail in the park. It’s an easy loop hike with a few gentle hills. We will explore the foundations of Durham’s first water pumping station that remain at the northeast section of the loop near the river. Trail Blaze: red circle

Our hike will be about 8 miles with 550 feet elevation

FYI: There will be several seperate hikes posted near Raleigh, NC. Please check AOC calendar for details.

The Eno River State Park flows near urban areas of  Orange county with five  areas, each just minutes from town amenities. The Eno River’s waters roll past mature forests, historic mill, home sites and river bluffs covered with flowering shrubs. The park offers nearly 30 miles of trails along a swift, shallow stream that’s popular with anglers, photographers, and sightseers.  We will hike at moderate pace with several short breaks.  History talk of the area if folks are interested.  Please arrive at least 10 minutes early for socializing and  introductions, giving us an on time departure.
