Itinerary:

The Pinhoti trail encompasses 355 miles of Georgia and Alabama, it is distinguishable by its very distinct blaze (see promo picture above), the trail starts in Alabama and joins on to the Benton MacKaye Trail in Georgia, from there you could follow the BMT all the way into the Smoky Mountains!! We, however will only be doing a short section.

We will hike 5 miles from Snake Creek Gap, up along the ridgeline of Horn Mountain, following the Pinhoti Trial descending into the Furnace Creek area, we will pick up a side trail that will take us to Pilcher’s Pond.

After lunch, we will re-trace our steps back to the cars.

This hike has moderate elevation gain and is suitable for those wanting to move up from D3 hikes to more challenging D4 hikes.
