Itinerary:

Looking for something different and unique?

Well, I have got just what you need...
Nestled in the North Georgia mountains just two miles from the Alpine village of Helen, Unicoi is one of Georgias most beloved state parks. The park is 1000+ acres of gorgeous forest with a pristine lake and beach.

We will be camping in the Squirrels Nest area, which is a village of primitive camping structures or platforms (sized 15'x14') on the side of a hill. The Nests themselves are roofed, one backwall and open on 3 sides. Therefore, tents are not needed for this trip. There are only 16 platforms, so plan to share.  The site has lots of picnic tables, running water, a large fire pit and yes, our own comfort station with sinks, flushing toilets and yes, hot showers!

The itinerary...
Friday - setup, dinner, and a cheery fire
Saturday - a hearty breakfast, then your choice of a hike around the park or to a nearby trail, or a trip into Helen to spend the day shopping and enjoying the town, and maybe even a refreshing tubing trip down the Hooch (if it is warm out).  This will also fall on the first weekend of Octoberfest.
Saturday night - dinner and Unicoi's Saturday Evening Concert Series followed by relaxing around the fire with your choice of beverage
Sunday - breakfast and head for home

Pioneer camping is all about relaxing while enjoying the outdoors and making new friends around the warm glow of the fire. Join us!
