Itinerary:

Please join me on this out and back, BMT hike starting at hwy 60 going north to Skeenah Gap then returning back on the same trail. The total distance will be about 12 miles with 3600 ft elevation gain.

I'll also be in search of water and camping on Licklog Mtn for an upcoming backpack trip so count on a brief stop there with an optional detour downhill to look for water.

Starting at the BMT hwy 60 trailhead we'll follow the trail north climbing over Wallalah, Licklog and Rhodes mountains before descending down to Skeenah Gap. From there we retrace our path back over the mountains and to the cars. Climbs in both directions are challenging with few flat sections.

You need prior D5 experience or the equivalent to join. This is a moderate D5 hike of about 12 miles and 3600 ft of elevation gain. The pace will be around 2.8 mph and you should feel comfortable on hikes lasting 6+ hrs at a quick pace with minimum breaks. If there are no previous D5 hikes in your profile expect an email to assess your compatibility for the hike.
