Itinerary:
The Stone Mountain Trail goes from downtown Atlanta, through Decatur and Clarkston, and ends at Stone Mountain Park. It is an amalgam of on-road routes and paved trails including the Freedom Park trail.  The scenery varies between homes, industrial parks, shops, trees and more. There are rolling hills with a couple of challenging climbs, but nothing you can't handle. This ride has a sense of adventure and you get to see different areas of Atlanta in a fun, unique way.

We'll meet at the Carter Center at 10:00. After gearing up and doing introductions, we'll head out. We'll follow the trail all the way to Stone Mountain Park, ride around the mountain once, and then head back to the Carter Center.  Our pace will be moderate though it will be adjusted to the group.  Our total distance will be approximately 35 miles. After the ride we'll go to El Myr in Little 5 Points for delicious burritos.

IMPORTANT NOTE: YOU are responsible for your bike maintenance or repairs on the trail. I'm happy to assist, but I simply cannot carry equipment for any possible repair on any possible bike. I highly recommend you have your bike tuned up before the ride.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATION: unlike previous AOC rides, this includes quite a bit of on-road riding. We all know Atlanta drivers, so this is serious business. You must have experience riding on the road and you must also know and obey all applicable laws.

If you have any questions, feel free to email the trip leaders.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Take I-75/85 to the Freedom Parkway exit. Continue on Freedom Parkway about 1.8 miles and fork right after the concrete canopy following the signs to The Carter Center. The entrance is on your left off Copenhill Avenue.  There are no real landmarks within the parking lot so look for my grey Mazda.
