Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue. This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.
Itinerary: | |||||||
The Friday hiking series has bailed on the Pinhoti Trail due to heat, blowdown, and bugs. In a change of direction, we will explore Olde Rope MIll Park for a couple of hours. We will maintain a moderate pace to avoid being soaked with sweat but we will still be shining various shades of bronze and glistening. All Trails shows 4 trails in this park totaling 14.4 miles and 1000 feet of elevation gain. We will pick from the following: 1. Allatoona Falls Trail is "breathtaking, close to Toonigh Creek's mouth into Lake Allatoona. It follows the Little River until it rises to a cliff and its tranquil atmosphere is enhanced by the river's mirrored surface. A peaceful little cover cradles the falls waters. 2. Little River Trail offers lots of shade and provides a peaceful and scenic walk. 3. Avalanche Trail Loop is shady with gradual elevation changes. 4. Rope Mill Loop is a quiet and peaceful walk through the forest.
