Itinerary:

So, here's the three-for-one deal: Get your daily workout in, beat the heat, and dispel those post-weekend blues on the lollipop loop Homestead Trail (Yellow Trail) AT A MODERATE PACE.

We begin at the Trading Post and from there, the five+ mile Homestead loop heads a mile north to Lake Allatoona, wandering through a forest filled with ferns, wildflowers, and wildlife. Reaching the lake’s shore, the hike begins a meandering 3.5-mile loop with rolling elevation and stunning view after view of the lake. BTW, friendly dogs are welcome on the hike.

Please note: There are a few short but challenging climbs (approximately 500+ feet of elevation gain) so if you have not recently completed any D2+ hikes, or if you have mobility issues, this is NOT the hike for you!

As always, we like to begin our hikes on time so please plan to meet at the Red Top Mountain Trading Post (see address below) around 7:15 AM so that we can do our meet-and-greet before beginning our hike promptly at 7:30 AM.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

I will email the meeting location and detailed directions to participants a few days before the event.

Notes:
  1. Please, no unregistered guests or +Ones!

  2. Late cancellations, particularly within 36 hours of the event, make it difficult for those on the waitlist to attend. Please be courteous to your fellow AOC members and cancel with as much notice as possible.

  3. I usually hike RAIN-or-SHINE, however, in case of severe weather or other unforeseen emergencies that warrant a cancellation, I will text/email you at least TWO HOURS before the start of the event.

* We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.

Cost Includes:

There is no cost for this event, however, Red Top Mountain State Park charges a $5 entry fee per vehicle. The good news: If you have the annual State Park parking pass, you're in for free!

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:   Please review the AOC cancellation policy.
*Note:
  1. If Life happens, and you need to cancel, please go to the AOC website and deregister by the deadline. If after the deadline, please TEXT me with your NAME, or leave a voicemail at 4O4 7-five-4 5OO5. FYI, thanks to those annoying robocalls, calling me will send you to my voicemail, but feel free to leave a message.

  2. In order to earn credit for this event, participants must complete the entire hike/event with the group, or within the stated time frame.
