*With the temps being in the 90s the hike will intentionally be a bit slower than usual but still fast. We will keep it more in the 3.25-3.5 mph range as opposed to the standard 3.5 -4mph. Due to this we will be starting things a bit earlier.

Finish the day with a fast hike around the various trails of Sope Creek. This event will be a bit different than most as our goal is to finish before it gets dark. To accomplish this we will likely need to go a bit faster than the target pace of 3.5 mph. If we are moving well the group will finish in 80-85 minutes. The posted time of 90 minutes is to give some wiggle room.

That is to say depending on how the group is moving we may or may not finish in the dark from week to week. You should plan to have a light of some kind with you in case we finish in the dark. Additionally the start time will change from week to week based on the current sunset time.

The route we take will be roughly 5 miles. There are some decent sized hills and rocky places but we will make sure to use only official trails along the way so nothing should be too bad. Also be aware that some of the trails that we will be taking are shared with mountain bikers.

Parking is $5 if you do not already have a pass(Chattahoochee or America the Beautiful). Info can be found here https://www.nps.gov/chat/planyourvisi t/fees.htm . They no longer take cash and you will need internet on your phone to pay.

Additionally if it is raining don't bother calling to see if it is still on. The answer is yes it is. Finally we will be leaving on time and you should be there a few minutes early. If you are late we will not be waiting and the nature of the event makes it very difficult for you to catch up or find us.

Required Items to Bring:

Yourself

Enough water to get you through 5 miles of fast hiking. Only you know how much you need, don't underestimate

Footwear that you are comfortable hiking in

Headlamp or light of some kind. A cellphone could work.
