Table Rock and Pinnacle Mountain

 Enjoy spectacular fall views of the South Carolina Piedmont from Table Rock and Pinnacle Mountain!  This area features beautiful rock formations, stunning forests, quiet lakes and reservoirs, and steep climbs! We meet at the Pinnacle Lake parking lot, just below the Table Rock Summit Trailhead and the Nature Center. We start with a refreshing climb of about 1240 feet to Panther Gap, at 2385 ft, and then add another 742 ft to Table Rock where we pause for lunch. Then back across the ridge trail for a breather at Pinnacle Mountain, the high point of the trip at 3416 ft elevation. We'll start down the Foothills Trail and stop at Bald Knob to appreciate the scenery. Depending on our timing and trail conditions, we may take a side trip to see Mill Creek Falls. Then we head back to the lake. With about 3300 ft elevation gain, this is a challenging hike. If you lack recent club D5 experience, send an email to the trip leader when you sign up.

Take Hwy I-85 North from Atlanta and take SC Exit 1; North on SC Highway 11 for about 50 miles; Enter the park at the West Gate Road, then up Table Rock State Park Rd, past the campground and the first parking lot on the right and turn in at the second parking lot.  The Sand Beach is in front of you and the Nature Center and trailhead is just above.
