Itinerary:

Ever see a zedonky?  I didn't even know what one WAS until I learned that the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve has one.  And now I want to see it.

The Chestatee Wildlife Preserve is a Georgia non-profit corporation and fully licensed rescue.  It is home to a variety of rescued exotic and domestic animals, many of which you can get close to and some of which you can feed.  Volunteers circulating throughout the property are quick to help with answers.  For more information, go here:  http://www.chestateewildlife.com/

We'll spend about an hour wandering around and taking pictures.  There is also the possibility of a private tour, which would cost an extra $3-$10 per person (and depending on whether they have a guide available).  The tour takes about an hour and will give us a chance to get even closer to some of the exotic animals.  I can't promise which ones, but you should know that they have tigers, a baby grizzly, leopards, a young Bactrian camel (2 humps), lemurs, and of course the baby zedonkey!

Be sure to bring a snack, lunch and a drink.  There are many places to sit throughout the Preserve, including some picnic tables.  We'll have lunch after our visit with the critters, and then we'll head up into Helen.

In Helen, we'll meet at the tubing outfitter (name and directions will be emailed prior to the trip) where we'll grab a tube and hop on the river.  We'll have a lazy float that will take a few hours, and then we'll get shuttled back to our cars where we'll change.  This trip leader will be heading home afterwards, but usually people like to have dinner in Helen.  Lots of good options!

Should be a fun, low-key day.  Look forward to seeing you!

Notes:
*Note:  There is a city ordinace in Helen against adult beverages anywhere but licensed sellers.  I hear they are strict and the tickets are expensive.
