This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Join us on this laid back and modest hiking trip to Rabun Gap.

While Warwoman Dell and Rabun Bald are currently under closure order, it is set to expire April 30th and it covers only the area north of Warwoman Rd.

Even if the closure order gets extended, we can hike many other wonderful trails.

I'm not worried about finding alternative hikes in this region.

Day 1 The plan is to arrive on Friday evening to the Misty Mountain Retreat by 5pm, unload, unpack and enjoy dinner together, served to you by me, so tough luck!

We will aim to be out of the door no later than 9am every morning.

Days 2 Saturday will include the following activity:

1- Hike Bartram Trail from Warwoman Dell, a D4, 8.5 miles, 1900 feet elevation

3 waterfalls, Wooden Bridge, and beautiful trails

2- Late Picnic lunch (bring your own food) and wine tasting at 12 Spies Vineyard, tastings cost $15 includes four wines of your choosing, 1 ounce pour of each. This is not part of the trip cost, you pay to the vineyard when you order. The winery is 0.7 miles from the house, and it closes at 5.

Day 3 On Sunday, we will go for a D5 hike at Black Rock Mountain State Park.

We will hike 4 different trails, total of 11.5 miles, and 3000 feet elevation.

Will stop for a lunch break by the lake, and finish the hike at Ada Falls.

Dinner plans for Saturday and Sunday will be discussed as a group, keeping in mind the crowds on this Memorial Day weekend, and No, we will not eat at the "Rabun Flea Market & Vicki's Restaurant".

Day 4 Monday we will pack the cars and our "to go" coffee/tea and start driving towards Atlanta.

We will stop on our way for a short but "strenious" D1 hike, 2.2 miles 450 feet elevation, drink our coffee at 2 waterfalls, Panther Falls and Angel Falls.

The trip is currently open for 7 members including the trip leader, we can add more people if a couple or two happen to sign up (or friends who don't mind sharing a bed), the rooms assignment will be finalized by the trip leader based on the final participants list and practicality.

I will coordinate the carpool for Friday 2:30pm departure, based on the location of drivers and participants, but I will not participate in the carpool as I will be in Clayton early Friday morning for a hike at Black Rock (unless you sign up for that hike as well, then you can ride with me).

All travel plans will be communicated and finalized a few days in advance.

We have a schedule packed with FUN, we will not go to a grocery store or "stop on the way" during the trip, we will do that just in case of an emergency, so please pack your cooler as listed below.

The AOC fee is non-refundable.

Notes:

The hikes location might change due to unforseen circumstances such as wildfires in the area, but I will make sure the substitution is in a similar category.

When you sign up for the hike, your name will be added to the waitlist, Trip Leader will add your name to the attending list based on the sign up time, ability to complete the hikes listed, and willingness to participate in the additional social activities.

I will not attend the carpool as I will be in Clayton early Friday morning for a hike at Black Rock, but all plans should be ironed out a few days before the trip.
