Itinerary:

The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA) preserves multiple sites along the Chattahoochee River for outdoor enthusiasts. Please join me on this hike at the beautiful Island Ford unit of the CRNRA.

We will meet in the first parking lot on the left immediately after the main entrance.  Please note that there are no restrooms at this location.

From the parking lot, we'll hike the newest trail, which is on the left. This is a tranquil and often under-utilized trail. It is wooded with a creek and a short walk near the river. We will keep a moderate pace and complete the trail in approximately one hour. The hike includes hills and enough elevation gain to increase our heart rates and get some good exercise.

The trail is a "lollipop" design and will return us to the parking lot. We will then hike a loop on one of the "older" trails, walking past a beautiful meandering stream and ultimately reaching the Chattahoochee River. There are often herons, geese, and ducks in the area.

Total distance is approximately 5 miles with 675 feet in elevation gain.
