7S7W = 7 Sunrises in 7 Weeks!

WEEK 5 - SUNRISE: 06:37 AM

Calling all Early Birds! This "7 Sunrises in 7 Weeks" series of hikes around ATL has a three-fold purpose:

1. Beat the summer heat,

2. Catch a spectacular sunrise, and

3. Get your daily workout in before breakfast.

So, what's not to like?

#5 in the Series: Kennesaw Mountain

We'll start bright and early at the Visitor Center, make our happy way up the main trail to the summit of Big Kennesaw in time for the sunrise, ooh and aah as the glowing orb appears over the horizon (fingers crossed for only high level clouds), hike on down to Little Kennesaw and Pigeon Hill, then pick up the Brumby Camp trail around the mountain to the Visitor Center. Ta daa!

DISCLAIMER: This is a brisk hike (2.7-3 miles per hour = 20 to 22 minute/mile) with 1050+ feet of elevation gain. So, if you have mobility issues, are recovering from injury, or prefer a slower pace, please sit this one out!

  • I usually hike RAIN-or-SHINE! However, in case of severe weather or other unforeseen emergencies that warrant a cancellation, I will text/email you at least TWO HOURS before the start of the event.

* We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.
