Itinerary:
Ok folks I was sitting around and wanted to go further up on the AT then Blood Mountain and all the other popular spots.  So I looked over the maps and found the following trek.

We will park our cars at HOGPEN GAP and then put on our packs and head out on the AT.  From there it is a 4.1 mile hike to LOW GAP shelter.  This part of the AT has the typical go up then go down but there are no huge climbs.

We should get up there by noon or so and then get at our campsite by 3- 4pm or so.  Make camp then hang out around there, gather firewood and build a fire.  Then dinner and then hang out around the campfire and talk.  Feel free to bring some food to share or a small flask of your favorite adult beverage.

The next morning we wake up whenever and come back out the same way we went in.  I would think we would arrive back in Atlanta in the later afternoon.  I personally plan to stop in Helen or maybe Dawsonville to get something to eat for lunch.

Required Items to Bring:
Tent Sleeping bag Headlamp/flashlight Bring lunch and dinner for Saturday and breakfast and optional lunch or snack for Sunday. Extra clothing for staying dry and warm for possible wet or cold weather. Stove, cookware, lighter, toiletries, garbage bags
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Great Attitude
Also remember we will be at about 3000 feet and it will be cool.  Not crazy cold like freezing but will be cool.
So plan accordingly
There are bears so a bear bag is a must for our campsite.
