Itinerary:
The is very strenuous about nine miles , we will make a loop using 3 trails

Standing Indian Mountain at 5,498 feet is the highest point on the Appalachian Trail south of the Great Smoky Mountains. The summit has excellent views to both the west and south, and the Standing Indian Shelter is located nearby for overnight accommodations. The Nantahala River is born on Standing Indian Mountain, just a short distance from here.

The is very strenuous about nine miles , we will make a loop using 3 trails: Beech Creek trail ( up hill, with the last 20 minutes straight up the side of Standing Indian) Appalachian Trail ( down hill, we will eat lunch on the top of the mtn) Deep Gap Trail ( gentle down hill to steep down hill, flattens out toward the end)

We will leave the P&R at 8:00 AM, the travel time is about 4 hrs ( round trip), the hike time is about 5 hrs.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:North Carolina Please meet at the carpool. take I-85 N, I-985 (441) N, all the way to Clayton, GA ( about 90 miles). take GA 76 W 8 miles, turn right on Persimmon, Go 4.1 miles turn Left on Tallulah River Road, Go 9 miles to Dead End, which is the Trail Head.
