How about a long D4 hike in August? The reward is a refreshing jump in the lake!

We will park in Helen, hike 3 easy miles on Helen Trail, followed by 0.3 miles on Unicoi Campground Rd to Smith Creek Trail.

We will get our D4 elevation by hiking 2 miles out and back on Smith Creek Trail, once we are back by the lake, we would have completed almost 9 miles and 1500ft elevation gain, will break for a well deserved swim/lunch.

After lunch, we’ll head back to our cars. It’s a 3.5-mile hike with about 400 feet of elevation gain, it’ll be a breeze!

The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver.
