Itinerary:

Just like the hike title says, we are heading north to Fort Mountain State Park, which is a great destination for hiking at the southwestern end of the Cohutta Mountains.

We will park at The Trading Post (bathrooms available), get on Gahuti Trail, head north to the Cool Springs Overlook, then to the Fire Tower and the West Overlook.

We will get back down to the Lake trail passing by couple of overlooks.

We will break to cool off in the water at the lake and have our lunch, then back on Gahuti to the parking lot.

The hike will be about almost 9 miles, 1800ft in elevation gain.

We will maintain moderate steady pace of 2.7 miles on average.
