Itinerary:

Hello early risers!

I am leading a scenic sunrise hike at Stone Mountain. This is such a great place to see a sunrise ...one of the best spots in the Atlanta-area!

We will meet at the Confederate Hall parking lot and start the hike from there. Up and down the mountain is about a two-mile hike.

This is a moderate-paced/social event, not a hard-core hike. We will need to be careful with our footing as we navigate our way up to the top of the mountain.

Once we reach the top, we'll hang out together and catch the sunrise and snap a few photos. 

Plan to arrive at our location 15 minutes before the hike begins for introductions.

After the hike, there is an option to meet for breakfast/coffee at a nearby restaurant if you are interested!

 

 


Required Items to Bring:

You NEED a headlamp or flashlight

Hiking boots or trail shoes, running shoes, etc. 

Water for hydration

Directions To Confederate Hall Parking Lot:

To the main entrance- From I-285 take U.S. Hwy 78 East (Snellville/Athens) exit. Travel about 7 miles and take Exit 8, the Stone Mountain Park Main Entrance. After entering the main entrance, proceed straight ahead. The road will fork at about 1 mile - stay to the right. Continue to follow the road for another mile. Confederate Hall will be on your left. (Careful - there's a stop sign in front of Confederate Hall for those entering the West Gate.) The parking lot will be immediately after. Wait for the group near the walk up trail.


MARTA PARK & RIDE LOT
Free public parking in Stone Mountain Village

From Hwy 78 take exit 5 - stay right for a half mile - then a quick exit to E. Ponce/Stone Mtn. Village. At the end of the ramp turn left. Drive a mile or so into town. Turn left on East Mountain. Turn right on Fourth Street. There you will find the MARTA park and ride.
 

Notes:

Parking fee inside the park is $20 or $40 for annual pass.
