Itinerary:

Ok folks I have never been to Rabun Bald and I figured why not make it a trip.  So this is all new to me so it will be a hike and a little exploring.  So I plan to be up there a little while looking around and perhaps hiking some other trails alittle ways.

We are going to take the short way up from Beegum Gap...the trail gains about 1000 feet in 1.5 miles.   Howevver, there will be an option to hike some more from there, south on the Bartram trail for a ways...so it is at minimum a D3, but you can make it into essentially a D4 (or maybe D5) depending on how far you want to go back down the other side before heading back up.  But the minimum hike would be about 3 miles round trip and the 1000' of ascent....pace will be moderate or actually everyone can just go at their own pace as the trail is easy to follow.

I would suggest you eat a hearty breakfast and bring a snack. We can eat the snack at the top and then hike around and explore.  Once done we can then hike back down and head into Clayton for a late lunch then hit the road.

You expect to arrive back at the carpool late afternoon or early evening.
