Itinerary:

We will meet at Confederate Hall at the beginning of the walk-up trail near the restrooms and we'll climb "the largest exposed piece of granite in the world" and then enjoy a less-strenuous walk around the mountain, crossing around the Carving face and end up back at the parking lot.

The hike up is a strenuous one, so we might separate a bit as we make our way to the top, but I'll wait for eveyone at the brass geodetic marker on top of the mountain. We'll catch a drink and a view and head back down for the hike around the base.

If you don't have a park pass you will need to pay $20 for a day pass or a $40 for an annual pass.  The annual pass is well worth the money if you'll be following my hiking adventures here on the mountain throughout the year.

Please arrive 15 minutes early for introductions so we can start on time.

PARKING:  A daily parking pass is $20 or an annual parking pass is $40. A parking pass is required for vehicle Park entry.

From Downtown Atlanta (via I-20) 
Take I-20 East to I-285 North. Once on I-285 North, take Exit 39B, the U.S. Hwy 78 East (Snellville/Athens) exit. Travel 7.7 miles and take exit 8, the Stone Mountain Park Main Entrance. Follow the exit ramp to the East Gate entrance of Stone Mountain Park.
