Alpha Loop-ish

This will be a moderately paced, 4 mile urban hike with about 250 feet of elevation through some of the more scenic areas of downtown Alpharetta. It will sort of follow the Alpha Loop through town, including Alpharetta City Center, Brooke Street Park, the Alpha Loop, Thompson Street Park and Avalon. All surfaces will be paved, so just some good walking shoes will be all that  is needed. It will basically be an out an back hike with a couple of loops thrown in for good measure. We will not be hiking on  any busy streets. Beginners are welcome. This will not be a leisurely pace, but a moderate place with stops for picture taking.  There should be lots of flowers blooming. I suggest you eat before this hike because we will pass by 20+ restaurants getting their cooking started and the smell is amazing.  We will pass right between two wood fired grills in Avalon and if you have not already eaten, it may be as far as you go on this hike. 

We will meet at the arbor on Park Plaza between City Hall and the Library. City Hall address is 2 Park Plaza and the arbor is just to the right if you are facing City Hall.  There is a free parking deck across the street from the Library. We will meet at 9:20 for a hike description and introductions. There are restrooms in the parking deck, street level across from the Library entrance.  Please arrive earlier if you need to make use of it. The hike will start promptly at 9:30. There will also be restrooms at about the half way point in Avalon. 

I will send out a pre-hike email on Wednesday with weather and other information.

The public parking deck address is 9 Park Plaza.  Turn onto Park Plaza from Haynes Bridge Rd on the South side. You can also turn onto Park Plaza from Acadamy St. on the North side. City Hall and the Library are on the East side of Park Plaza.  The parking deck is on the west side of Park Plaza facing the Library.
