This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

IMPORTANT: This is a strenuous, moderately fast-paced hike with 1900+ foot elevation gain, some rock scrambling, and possible water crossings. You must be able to maintain a 2.2 - 2.5 mph pace, and have recent D3+ (or equivalent) experience to sign up.

So, if you have mobility issues, are recovering from injury, or prefer a slower pace, please sit this one out!

For years now, my hiking buddies have been going on, ad nauseam, about this Panther Creek Falls trail, so I decided to do my own research and find out what all the fuss was about. Then, I found this summary: The Panther Creek Falls trail highlights include beautiful waterfall views, a refreshing swimming hole, and well-maintained sections. Challenges are muddy trails, steep inclines, and confusing signage. Bring bug spray and wear sturdy footwear. Well... they had me at muddy trails and steep inclines; the confusing signage was a plus!

So, the grand plan is to breathe deeply as we hike downhill through the white pine and hemlock forest, past the various cascades to the main waterfall, and then continue downhill till the trail ends where Panther Creek meets Davidson Creek, or when my app tells me to turn around, whichever comes first. Then, we turn around and head uphill, back to the Falls, where we'll take a longish (lunch and dip) break, before heading back to our cars.
