AOC member Marcus Shapiro is a fitness trainer, adventure enthusiast and founder of Fit for Trips. Fit for Trips provides itinerary specific resistance and endurance programs and is dedicated to improving the physical fitness of adventure travelers worldwide.

Trekking Fitness Workout: Experience exhilaration to the summit and back! Brought to you by Fit for Trips. In 45 minutes you will simulate many challenges faced while summiting mountain peaks.

Class format: 1 - Easy Climb - You will warm up the muscles as you begin to ascend the mountain. 2 - Hard Climb - Your muscles will experience a challenging muscle fatigue. 3 - Scramble - The high and steep elevations will challenge your upper body muscles. 4 - Balance at the summit - Toward the summit the footing is difficult and you will be faced with instability and challenges with balance. 5 - Descent - Going back to the mountain base can surprisingly be the most challenging phase and requires specialized training.

Attend this workout if you currently perform a weekly resistance-training program that incorporates various forms of squats and lunges. If you don't fit these criteria, then you must be willing to listen to the instructor and modify the workout when alternative instructions are given.
