Itinerary:

Kennesaw Mountain is calling. We'll do the 6.2 miles from the Visitor Center to Burnt Hickory and back. This is a tough hike that I have only done on my own recently. I have little expectation that I can finish this hike within the 2.5 hours the club uses as a qualifier for other difficult hikes. However, I will be moving as if I’m trying to make that qualifying time. I've allocated 3 hours. We'll see how that plays out.

So, if you are wanting to join this hike, you should have recent D3 experience. You probably don't want to sign-up if you are a seasoned D4 or above hiker. You should also be flexible with the time spent completing this hike. We will be moving most of the time. I don't anticipate any breaks for water. We may take a break for de-layering, if needed. Definitely, take a break at Burnt Hickory, but it will be short.

With the government shutdown, the visitor center will be closed as well as the visitor center parking lot. Plan on parking at the overflow lot, which is your first left after the light to turn to the visitor center. The overflow lot is a 10 minute walk from the visitor center.

We'll meet at the Visitor Center by 7:50 am. You should have already paid for parking(parking fee will not apply with the government shutdown),got your gear together, and used the bathroom,if needed, prior to 7:50 am. We'll start promptly at 8:00 am.
