Itinerary:
One constant I hear from members that work weekends is the lack of out of town hikes during the week. I'm posting these hikes separately to offer you multiple options of hiking along with flexible sleeping arrangements.

This is but one of a series of hikes in North Carolina I'll lead the week of 10/18 thru 10/24. The 10/18 - 10/21 hikes will be moderate hikes, trails are various lengths with nothing strenuous.

The park was private until a few years ago. It was put up for sale. One option was to sell to a developer. Luckily the State of NC purchased the park for the public. This park is much larger and with many activities. Plan to utilize the camera and hiking poles. The park hours are 8-6 and I truly plan to get in a solid hike and serious leaf peeping.

10/18 Mon Chimney Rock 4-6 miles, multiple trails 8:30am - 2pm, then drive to camp site using Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP).
10/19 Tue Blowing Rock 1/3 mile, followed by day in town/paddle/BRP. Good arts scene in this town.
10/20 Wed Grandfather Mtn - all day - lots to do and see.
10/21 Thu Open/rain day - make up of one of the above days. Or, several waterfalls are in the area, perhaps we hike and see a waterfall or spend time along the BRP.
End of moderate hiking agenda and beginning of difficult hiking event.

Hardcore D6 rating:
10/22-24 Fri-Sun Linville Gorge - see other post

CAMPING OPTION 10/18-21 camping option (almost car camping - has showers and toilets) - see other post.
