Currahee Mountain is a prominent Landmark in Northeast Georgia. Near Toccoa, GA, it is known for the Battle of Currahee, the Treaty of Hopewell and as a training ground for WW2 paratroopers known as "The Band of Brothers" and this mountain was featured in the film about this same group. The peak at 1735 feet has an expansive view of North Georgia as well as radio towers which serve North Georgia. This is an out and back hike of 6.0 miles and an elevation gain of 1040 feet. This is going to be at a moderately fast pace of about 3mph as a large part of it is directly up as gravely road. The views from the top are simply beautiful with a sweeping panorama of the Georgia mountains and Blue Ridge Foothills. And we will have a wonderful view and possibly catch sunset on our return trip. | |||||
