Itinerary:

The James E. Edmonds Backcountry Trail is named in honor of one of the park’s first rangers. This trail is quite steep in a number of places and is rated as “moderate to strenuous.” The trail follows cascading streams with small waterfalls. In the northernmost section of the park, the trail climbs to the summit of Lookoff Mountain and offers a stunning vista of Wolffork Valley and surrounding mountain ranges.

We will hike the trail in the clockwise direction, taking a side trip around Black Rock Lake. We will hike at a pace of 2.8 miles/hour, slower on the up hills. Lots of breaks to enjoy the fall foliage and take pictures. Lunch will likely be on the top of Lookoff Mountain.

I have not done this hike before but the trials are suppose to be well marked.
