Itinerary:

Amicalola, a Cherokee word meaning "tumbling waters". Please join us for a brisk December morning hike to the Len Foote Hike Inn starting from the Visitors Center at Amicalola Falls State Park. The park was established in 1940 and the new and improved Visitors Center was recently remoduled in 2023. We will meet in front of the Visitors Center at 8:45 so we can be ready to hike promptly at 9:00. We will begin at the stone arch behind the Visitors Center and proceed to the top of the Falls climbing the 600+ steps while viewing our State's longest waterfall at 729 feet. After regrouping at the top of the Falls, we will take a short break,restrooms available, we will then take the Hike Inn trail to the Len Foote Hike Inn where we will break for a 20 minute lunch break. After lunch, we will retrace our steps to hike back to the the Visitors Center to conclude our adventure.

Please have previous D4 or higher experience, this hike is one of the easier D5 hikes with 2,700+ elevation gain in a little over 12 miles. For those of you who have D4 experience and are now ready to try a D5, this might be a good one for you. There will be no carpool for this event.
