Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

IMPORTANT: You must have recent D4+ (or equivalent) experience to attempt this strenuous hike with 2500+ foot elevation gain. Also, you must be able to maintain a pace of 20 - 24 min/mile = 2.5 - 3 mph. So, if you have mobility issues, are recovering from injury, or prefer a slower pace, please sit this one out!

That said, Alltrails describes this as a "...serene trail in Fort Mountain State Park, located to the west of Cohutta Wilderness. The trail winds around the peak of Fort Mountain and provides access to various trail connections within the park. The lush green ferns and trees create a beautiful environment for hiking, while the rocky terrain adds some excitement. At the highest point of the mountain stands an impressive 855-foot rock wall."

I say we go hike this trail and verify whether those people at Alltrails know what they're talking about! I suspect they do...

* We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.
