Itinerary:

Hi, if you don't already have plans this weekend, I plan to walk around the mountain, then climb up to the summit. I intend on being there on time to watch the sunset and walk down slowly in the twilight. You will want to dress in layers so that you can remain comfortable at the top.

There are areas where the climb is steep.

I intend to walk at a moderate pace, but with a few stops along the way to enjoy the views, especially along the lake. 

We will meet near the start of the walk-up trail beside the rest rooms, adjacent to Confederate Hall. The hike will start promptly at 2:30pm so plan to arrive a little earlier for introductions. There is a $20 parking fee to enter the park; however, free public parking is available in Stone Mountain Village. 


Required Items to Bring:

• Comfortable shoes or boots with a good grip-the rock can be slippery.
• 1+ liter of water or sports drink.
• Trail snacks.

Google Stone Mountain park. We'll be near the west entrance, beside the Confederate Hall.

If you don't want to pay the $20.00 entrance fee, you can park in Stn Mtn Village, near the caboose and walk into the park from there, but I will leave it up to you to find your way to Confederate Hall from there. The parking lot is rather small, and can definitely fill up. I'm not sure about the street parking since I buy an annual pass, but I'm sure you crafty individuals could find a route without paying.
