Greetings hikers! Happy New Year!

Panther Creek is such a beautiful trail. It winds through a lush forest along Panther Creek and is a joy to hike.

It takes about 1 1/2 hours to drive to the trailhead from our carpool meeting spot.

The goal is to start the hike around 9:30am to 9:45am ET. Once we hit the 3.5-mile mark of our hike, we'll stop at Panther Creek waterfalls and enjoy our packed lunches here. After lunch, we'll head back to our vehicles at the trailhead.

Take note: There are sections on this trail can be tricky to navigate. Some rock scrambling is required on this hike, and there are some steep/rocky areas.

This is not a beginner-level hike. You must have previous D3 or higher hiking experience with the Atlanta Outdoor Club to attend this event. Thanks for your understanding.

Carpoolers: We will leave the Mansell Park & Ride at 8:00 am, and plan to arrive at the trailhead by 9:30am to 9:45 am.

Mansell Park & Ride, 2175 Mansell Rd, Alpharetta, GA 30009

Depart and head north on Wooten Rd, approximately 384 feet.

Turn right onto Mansell Rd approximately 0.4 miles.

Turn left onto US-19/GA-400 N approximately 69 feet.

Take the ramp on the right for US-19/GA-400 N approximately19.7 miles.

At Exit 17 head right on the ramp for GA-306 toward Gainesville, approximately 0.4 miles.

Turn right onto GA-306 / Keith Bridge Road, approximately 1.0 miles.

Turn right onto GA-306 / Browns Bridge Road, approximately 19 miles.

Take the ramp on the left for GA-13 N / GA-365 N / I985 N and head toward Clarkesville / Cornelia, approximately 35.9 miles.

Bear left towards Travis Smith Road, approximately 0.2 miles.

Turn left onto Travis Smith Road, approximately 0.1 mile.

Turn right onto Historic Old Highway 441, approximately 0.8 miles,

Arrive at destination on the left. The last intersection is Grace Lane, if you reach John Cross SR Road, you have gone to far.

There is a $4 parking fee per car at the trailhead. You have to pay for parking online. Trip Leader will send instructions on how to pay ahead of time.

Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $64.80 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
