Itinerary:
This should be the perfect weekend to see one of the rarest wildflowers in North America - the Fringed Gentian. The flower blooms in late October in Track Rock Gap.

THIS IS NOT A FITNESS HIKE :) If you're one of those who like a D4 hike but at a slower pace, then this is the hike for you. We prefer to hike as group and stop 'whenever' to enjoy the trail.

We are only going one way, so we'll leave cars at Track Rock Gap for a shuttle. The 5.5 mi. trail is very rocky in many places, so choose appropriate footwear. Before the hike we will walk the ¼ mile, 500 ft. ascent from the parking lot to the interpretive center and observation area at the top of the mountain.

Dinner on the way back is optional. Your leaders will not be joining you though. We are headed back to Atlanta to the Candler Park Fall Festival to catch the entertainment headliner ... Francine Reed. Anyone interested can do the same. Francine is scheduled to go on at 7:30.

Please be at the carpool no later than 8:15.
