Please join me for my first event in 2026 as an official AOC Trip Leader! Where? You ask. Where else but to Cooper’s Furnace (no relation!) via the Pine Mountain Trail—a classic route known for its incredible views, history, and rewarding challenge. If you’ve been on this hike before, you know the highlights—we’ll make all the usual stops. If not, you're signing up for some great hiking and spectacular views!!
This hike is rated a D4 due to the terrain and elevation. We’ll cover approximately 8.3 miles with over 1,800 feet of elevation gain. Expect rocky sections, multiple switchbacks, and several strenuous ascents along the route. This is a fantastic trip for experienced D4 hikers and strong D3 hikers. Participants must have completed multiple D3 hikes with the club to attend. Our pace will be approximately 2.6-2.7 mph. Parking: Parking is free Restrooms: Porta Pottys are available onsite at the parking lot at the starting location. Restrooms facilities, if open, which I think they will be, are located at our stop at Coopers Furnace.
