Itinerary:
Many cite East Palisades as their favorite unit of the Chattahoochee NRA, and for good reason.  With an abundance of trails, a scenic overlook of the forest, multiple river shoals, meandering creeks and lovely views of the river, this hike offers something for all tastes.

From the parking lot, we'll cross Charlie's Trapping Creek and head into the woods for our first steep ascent.  We'll work our way to the overlook, down to Cabin Creek and eventually to Mountain Heath Creek.  While tracing the river, we'll pass Devil's Race Course Shoals and check out a bamboo forest.  On the way back, we'll spend more time beside the river.

This hike has several reasonably steep ascents which will get our lungs working.  I plan to keep a good D3 pace so we can get some exercise while enjoying the beauty of this park.  Of course, we'll work in appropriate breaks to hydrate and enjoy our snacks.

We will meet at the East Palisades area parking lot off of Whitewater Creek Road.  There is a $3 parking fee per vehicle if you do not have an annual parking pass.  Please note that there is no restroom at this location.
