Itinerary:

"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn." Author: John Muir

NOTE: This is a demanding hike. Do not attempt it unless you are in good physical condition.

We will meet at the Amicalola State Park visitor center and start the backpacking trip and hike up at the top of the waterfalls and follow the Access Trail to the summit of Springer Mountain (elev 3782 ft.), which is the southern terminus of the Appalachian trail. We will spend the night at a nearby shelter and return to our cars the next day. On the way back we will visit Len Foote Hike Inn for a quick snack and rest break. The total walking distance is about 17 miles.
