Itinerary:

Come join me on a double summit of Stone Mountain. I scouted the trails today, and both sides of the Cherokee Trail had large icy areas, so I decided to skip the circuit around the mountain and instead summit twice. We will go at a pace consistent with 25 minutes from the bottom to the top of the mountain. This is a moderate to high moderate pace, so it is not a good event if you have not done prior D3s that were faster. If you have hiked with me before you will know the pace. Not slow but not a race, either.

We will meet by the bathrooms at the base of the walk-up trail, next to the Historical and Environmental Education Center (formerly known as Confederate Hall). We will start at 2 PM to take advantage of the 40 degree temperature. We will climb to the top and turn around without stopping to return to the start, where we will take a restroom break if anyone wants one. Then we will return up the mountain again, this time stopping for a minute or two to take a photo or two before returning to our start point.

While the event itself has no cost, if you don't have a park pass you will need to pay $20 for a park pass ($40 for an annual pass) or park at the lot in Stone Mountain village and walk into the park. If you park in the village, allow at least 15 minutes to walk to our meeting spot.

Please arrive 10 minutes early for introductions so we can start on time. Earlier if you need to use the bathrooms.
