Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue. This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

The Series: There are the classic seven summits - the tallest mountain on each of the seven continents - and then there are the Georgia Seven Summits (GA 7S): Seven of the tallest 4000+ foot peaks in our state. They are: 1. Hightower Bald - 4,588 ft. - No trail; strictly bushwhacking! 5. (w/ Brasstown Bald) 6. - 4,321 ft. (w/ Blood Mtn.) 14. (w/ Rabun Bald) 19. (w/ Rabun Bald)
Since the GA seven summits are oh-so much more accessible, I plan to climb them all, and you are invited! So come enjoy the spectacular views, rigorous workouts, the exhilaration of communing with nature, and earn some well-deserved bragging rights after we’ve summited all seven peaks!
The Disclaimer: You must have recent D4+ (or equivalent) experience to attempt these strenuous hikes which often involve steep climbs and 2500+ foot elevation gain. Also, you must be able to maintain a pace of 20 - 24 min/mile = 2.5 - 3 mph. So, if you don’t have the requisite experience, have mobility issues, are recovering from injury, or prefer a slower pace, please sit this one out!
The Plan: Starting off from Andrew's Cove Campground (off US 17), we'll pick up the Andrew's Cove trail which intersects with the AT at the Indian Grave Gap. From here, we follow the AT past Tray Gap up to the summit of Tray Mountain, where we'll stop for a leisurely lunch and lookround. We'll retrace our steps on the AT to Indian Grave Gap, then along Andrew's Creek back to Andrew's Cove campground, and our vehicles.
