Itinerary:
This section of the AT is supposed to be one of the most scenic sections with panoramic views. A good hike + Panoramic views + fall colors = Memories. I am sure about the good hike and the panoramic views part of the equation. I hope the fall colors will still be there with good visibility. Memories are yours of-course. If you want to keep them fresh, bring along a camera.

We start at the carpool and go straight to Byron Herbert Reese Trail parking, with a McDonalds pit-stop. Finding a parking spot here is tough. So we will park one car there and continue to Hogpen gap parking. We will start our hike at Hogpen gap and finish at Byron Herbert Reese. After the hike the drivers will go get the rest of the cars from Hogpen gap to Byron Herbert Reese. (we can work out a convenient car pool plan on the day of the hike depending on the parking spots available )

The below hike details are based on info from this site. Any errors are due to my math skills and I am not responsible for them :)

Total Hike : ~14 Miles

Since the views are good, we will waste little time on the trail by maintaining a 3mph pace ( close to it ) when on the move and spend more time enjoying the views when we stop. Its easy to begin with and goes up and down till Neels gap and then straight up to the Blood Mountain.

If you haven't been to a D5 party recently, then you don't want to crash this party - Only I reserve that right :) Its going to be long and hard!
