Twice is Nice: Up and Down Stone Mountain Twice + optional social hour

Hello hikers! This is a great fitness hike -- packed with scenic views!

The game plan: We'll hike up and down Stone Mountain twice. We'll spend more time on the top during the second round to really take in the fantastic views.

The hike is approximately 4.2 miles with a total elevation gain of over 1,400 feet.

You must have previous D3 experience or a lot of D2 experience to attend this event. No beginners on this hike -- sorry! 

We will meet for our hike no later than 7:45 am near the restrooms located near the Historical & Environmental Education Center (also called Confederate Hall). The restrooms are adjoined to the parking lot in a separate building.  If this is your first time on this trail, then please give yourself some extra time to arrive and find the meeting spot.

There is a $20 parking fee to enter the park. An annual parking pass is $40. However, free public parking is available in Stone Mountain Village. See directions below.

**After the hike, there is an opportunity for a social hour near the mountain for those who are interested! We will hit up the coffee shop (plus food) inside the Atlanta Evergreen Lakeside Resort -- located inside the park. We'll try to sit near the pool area if the weather is nice.**

Driving directions: To the main park entrance - From I- 285 take U.S. Hwy 78 East (Snellville/Athens) exit. Travel about 7 miles and take Exit 8, the Stone Mountain Park Main Entrance. After entering the main entrance, proceed straight ahead. The road will fork at about 1 mile – stay to the right. Continue to follow the road for another mile. The Historical & Environmental Education Center (also called Confederate Hall) will be on your left. The parking lot will be immediately after. We’ll meet near the restrooms adjoined to the parking lot.

If you would like to find free public parking in Stone Mountain Village, then try parking near 5407 East Mountain Street. (Front Porch Mexican Restaurant). From there it is a short walk (north) to the park (about a 10-15 minute walk). Walk along East Mountain Street and enter the park through the gate -- and then you'll walk toward the nearby parking lot where the restroom building is located. (Our meeting spot.)
