Itinerary:

Join me for a series of three moderate-to-strenous hikes in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  Each hike will be posted separately so you can register for each one individually or for all three. The idea is to gain endurance from consecutive days of hiking while enjoying some of the most beautiful trails in the Smokies.

Hike #2 starts at the Ramsey Cascades Trailhead.

The distance from Gatlinburg, TN to the the Trailhead is parking area is 8.9 miles.

From All Trails: This is a great hike with lots of good scenery. The trail is an out-and-back type trail with the route to Ramsey Cascades all up hill. It's a gradual climb that only gets remotely steep the last mile or so approaching the Cascades. The first 1.5 miles follow an abandoned logging route. The trail then becomes a typical Smokey Mountain hiking trail that is only wide enough for one person. The last mile or so becomes more steep and is also very rocky. Caution should be taken especially on the way back down. Once reaching the Cascades, you will want to cross over the shallow pool at the bottom to reach a rock ledge on the other side to get in position for some good pictures of the Cascades.

Expect an elevation gain of 2,185 feet of climbing and 8 mile distance at a moderate pace.

I will send out a few emails prior to the event to share with my lodging (downtown Gatlinburg) and restaurant plans along the way starting the day after registration so you can make hotel reservations asap.
