If you have hiked to Brasstown Bald Summit on the Wagon Train Trail and Arkaquah Trail, did you know there is a third way to hike to Brasstown Bald?

On this hike we will start at Jack's Gap off of GA 180. The Jacks Knob Trail starts off climbing all the way to the paved parking lot at Brasstown Bald. On the way we will pass by Wolfpen Ridge. To make this a D5, we will hike the Summit Trail to Brasstown twice! After our second summit, we will enjoy our lunch and the views.

Ann has hiked this trail. Trail is new to Linda.

You must have recent AOC D5 experience (within six months) to sign up for this hike. If you do not have this hiking history with the club, you will be moved to the waitlist.

There are no restrooms at the trailhead. There are bathrooms at the Brasstown Bald Summit parking area as well as at the summit.

Required Items to Bring:

Water (2 to 3L)/hydrating drinks/electrolytes

Wear appropriate clothing with layers

Trail hiking shoes

Lunch/Snacks

If in carpool, $ for for carpool driver. Please bring towel, change of clothes/shoes, bag for hiking shoes

From Helen, take GA 17/75 up the mountain north through Unicoi Gap. Descend the mountain and turn left on GA 180. Continue 5 miles to GA 180 Spur. Park where Jacks Knob Trail crosses the highway.

Please try to join carpool as parking is limited.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes early so we can start the hike on time.

Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $58.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
