Itinerary:

It might feel a bit early to start registering for a day hike in May, but if you’re thinking of joining the two weekend hikes, it’s a good idea to book your place early for the accommodations.

I’ll be staying pretty close to the trailhead, and I’d be happy to share my accommodation plans if you’re interested in both hikes.

Yellow Mountain, NC

As one of the highest mountains in the Highlands Ranger District, this is a great, well shaded trail for hot weather with excellent 360-degree view at the fire tower.

13-14 miles

3200 ft elevation gain

Prompt start 9am

AllTrails Nantahala Yellow Mountain Trail

Trailhead: Yellow Mountain Trail Parking

PACE

While some would still consider it fast-ish”, professional hikers would say it’s a moderate pace.

CARPOOL

I will try to help and match people to ride together if they are interested in joining one or both hikes, but there is no official carpool as I will not be able to attend.
