Itinerary:
Never been horseback riding?  Always want to try horseback riding?   Been horseback riding once or twice and want to become a little more experienced and familiar?  This is the trip for you!

The day will start out with a one hour group lesson with our experienced outfitters where they will introduce us to the fundamentals of horseback riding such as basic leading, saddling, riding techniques, correct riding positions, at a walk, trot and canter, mounting and dismounting.

After our group lesson, we will saddle up and head out to the Chattahoochee National Forest where our guides will test our newly learned skills as we ride for an hour.  The ride will be head to tail mostly walking through varied terrain from single horse width trails to wide old logging roads.  We will have the option to trot if and only if everyone feels comfortable doing so.  No cantering will be done as this is a beginner/novice intro to horseback riding.

Weight limit for the horses is 250lbs.

After our ride we will drive to Helen for lunch.  After lunch in Helen, on the way home we will stop at Dukes Creek Falls to hike the 1 mile out and back trail (2 miles total) down to the double water falls (Dukes creek and Davis creek).  The trail is the roadbed of the Byrd-Matthews Lumber Company logging railroad, operated circa 1914–15, and is an easy hike.

We should be back at the carpool around 5:30pm.

This event will take place rain or shine, only thunder and lightening will prevent us from riding, please be prepared with rain gear and/or a change of clothes.

This event is intended for those who have no experience.  If you are an intermediate or advance rider please do not sign up, I will have other trips for your skill level.  Any intermediate or advanced riders that sign up will be moved to the wait list.  Beginners on the wait list will have priority over intermediate and advanced.
