Itinerary:

Thank you Ron for allowing me to copy your hike.

NOTE:  This hike is part of a series of hikes, 7/7-7/13.  There will be no carpool as I will be staying in Hiawassee.

Join me as we enjoy the 360 views at the Wesser Bald Fire Tower.

This D6 event has plenty of climb and fantastic views! We will start at the Nantahala Outdoor Center where parking spots are set aside for hikers. We will get on the AT and start our steady 6.6 mile ascent of Wesser Bald. There are some nice views along the way, which will give us an opportunity to take a brief respite from the climb. At the summit of the bald we will find the fire tower, which we can climb to enjoy 360 views of the surrounding mountains including Cheoah Bald to the west and the Smoky Mountains to the north. We will stop here to enjoy our lunch. Before retracing our steps back to our cars we will go a bit further on the trail to complete our D6 requirements.

This is a difficult D6 event with over 4000 feet of gain. Recent D5 experience is required to join the fun.
