Itinerary:

This is an easy day to get in the woods and enjoy being outside, take some photos, and check out some waterfalls in the Turner's Corner area of 19/129.  There will be several short hikes with short drives in between trailheads.

Falls on Waters Creek - we will start with a drive to Waters Creek which is basically a road-side waterfalls but very beautiful and with multiple small cascades which we can explore.

Desoto Falls - a short drive north will take us to Desoto Falls. This consists of 2 out and back trails to the impressive upper and lower falls.

Helton Creek Falls - just a few miles north of Desoto Falls is the road to Helton Creek Falls. This is a little gem off the beaten path. After driving a couple of miles down a winding dirt road we will take the trail to this beautiful double-decker waterfall, taking time to explore around the falls.

Creek Bottom Falls at Vogel - we then make the short drive north to Vogel State Park. We will take the Lake Loop trail at the far end of which is a side trail down to Creek Bottom Falls.

Brasstown Bald Visitor's Center and Overlook... about 15 miles north of Vogel State Park is the Brasstown Bald Visitor's Center. We will drive to the parking area and walk the short, but steep 0.6 mile paved path to the observation deck. From here you will have a spectacular 360 degree view of the North Georgia Mountains. At 4,784 feet, Brasstown Bald is Georgia's highest peak.

Cost per vehicle:
Desoto Falls = $3
Vogel State Park = $5 (unless the driver has a state parks pass)
Brasstown Bald = $4

Please bring a couple of dollars to contribute to entrance fees as well as your normal share for gas/expense as listed in the event description.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $56.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:
This event will be rescheduled if heavy rain or lightning are possible.

Due to parking limitations at some of these trails, there is no 'meet at event' option and we will need to fit in as few cars as possible. Please keep in mind there are several miles of dirt/gravel roads to some of these trailheads.
