Spectacular mountain scenery and hiking trails make this one of Georgia’s most popular state parks. At 729 feet, Amicalola Falls is the tallest cascading waterfall in the Southeast.

We will hike the AT Approach Trail and return back via the Len Foote route with an approx. 2,300 ft elevation gain. We will have a moderate pace with some stragetic stops to have some water, regroup, and enjoy the day. A longer stop for our well-deserved lunch break at the Hike Inn is just one highlight we are all looking forward to!

Please Note: Multiple Recent D4 Hiking Experience with the AOC is Required !!! --- This is not a self-paced hike, so you need to make sure you can walk at a moderate (not slow), speed and stay with the group. There is no walking ahead.

I will move anyone who does not have adequate experience for this hike to the waitlist. So please contact me to discuss your hiking experience.

We will meet in front of the Lodge (Not on top of the Falls!). Please be on time. We'll start the hike at 9:00 am.

There is a $10.00 fee per car for the park. You can buy your day pass at the visitor's center or put cash via the drop box in the parking lot on top of the falls.

Hiking Boots
Clothing appropriate for weather conditions (raincoat - just in case)
Snacks or lunch
Adequate water (1.5 - 2 L)

How to Get There:

Event Directions:

1. From the GA- 400/ I-285 interchange go North on GA-400/US-19 N about 42 miles to the traffic light at GA-136 (a.k.a. Harmony Church Rd).
2. Turn Left off GA-400 onto GA-136 and follow it westward about 12 miles.
3. Bear Right onto GA- 342 (Bailey Waters Rd) and go about 3.6 miles.
4. Turn Left onto GA-52 East and go about 3.9 miles.
5. Turn Right onto Amicalola Falls State Park Rd, at the park entrance.
6. Pay for parking at the Visitor Center

* We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.

Cost Includes:

$10.00 State Park Fee unless you have an annual park pass.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance: Please review the AOC cancellation policy.

Stay tuned for the weather report. I will cancel if there is a 40-50% chance of rain. So bring a raincoat or a poncho!
