Itinerary:

Come check out what some people call "Decatur's Supercool Southside Sweet Spot." We'll start this hike in front of a condo building at 108 Park Place and then head south toward Decatur's Oakhurst historic neighborhood. Oakhurst is known for its local restaurants, cafes, walkable tree-lined streets, and renovated Craftsman bungalows.

We'll then head north toward Decatur Square (passing through Agnes Scott College along the way). Decatur Square is the heart of the downtown area and often ranks as one of the top public squares in the country. This area is known for its dining hotspots and shops. Some television shows have also produced scenes here, including HBO's "Watchmen".

Once we pass Decatur Square, we'll head toward the historic Decatur Cemetery. This 58-acre cemetery holds over 20,000 graves (including Civil War veterans) and is part of the National Register of Historic Places. The cemetery predates the 1823 incorporation of Decatur and is a sacred space. Many Decatur residents take walks here and it is acceptable for us to spend part of our hike in this space.

Our last stop will be to Glenlake Park in Decatur, where we'll encounter a few hills on this section of the hike. This 17-acre neighborhood park includes a dog park, which we'll pass during our event.

Once we pass through Glenlake, we'll retrace our steps back to 108 Park Place condo building and finish our hike there.

We may stop a couple of times to take photos. The trip leader is the social media manager of the club.

An optional social hour after the hike will be hosted by a club member at the condo building featuring light breakfast treats and coffee.

**Important note: Katherine will be using private group texts to communicate to members about this event ahead of the hike. By signing up for this event, you agree to this style of communication.**
