Itinerary:

Join me for an old favorite of mine, the Coosa backountry loop:

Coosa Backcountry Trail, Georgia - 983 Reviews, Map | AllTrails

We will start our hike from Vogel State Park (2300’) and hike clockwise around the loop. We will climb for approximately 6 miles and then enjoy a 30-minute, or so, lunchbreak on top of  Coosa Bald (4280').  We will then continue down a steep descent to the finish the loop back to Vogel and the cars.

Bring enough food and water for a long day hike. It may be a hot day, so I would recommend 3 liters and electrolytes if you have them. We will stop at all of the major turns/crossroads to keep the group together and take necessary water breaks.

Parking at Vogel State is $10 if you do not have a state park pass.

This is not a beginner hike. If you do not have a recent history of D4 or higher hikes, you may be contacted to confirm your experience.
