Itinerary:


We will be hiking the main trail going to the top of Stone Mountain from the Confederate Hall parking lot and back.  Up and back is about two miles. 

We are going to go at our own pace but everyone needs to finish in the alloted time.

This will be a challenging hike: up and back 4 times for a total elevation gain of about 3000 feet.

The good news is our cars and the bathrooms are both near so a quick snack, extra water or trip to the lou is easy!

And we will compelte a D5 all before noon!

 

Arrive a few minutes early as we will leave PROMPTLY at 7 am.

 

 

Additional Notes:

 

1. Restrooms are available as noted above.
 
2. Free parking is available at MARTA PARK n RIDE parking lot. It is less than a half mile walk to the park and the entrance is near our meeting area. Please take the time to look at the park map and parking options in order to be on time!


3. THE HIKE WILL START FROM THE CONFEDERATE HALL PARKING LOT NEAR THE BATHROOMS AT 7:00 am. ARRIVE A FEW MINUTES EARLY FOR INTRODUCTIONS.

Hiking boots or trail shoes, running shoes, etc.

Directions To Confederate Hall Parking Lot:

To the main entrance- From I-285 take U.S. Hwy 78 East (Snellville/Athens) exit. Travel about 7 miles and take Exit 8, the Stone Mountain Park Main Entrance. After entering the main entrance, proceed straight ahead. The road will fork at about 1 mile - stay to the right. Continue to follow the road for another mile. Confederate Hall will be on your left. (Careful - there's a stop sign in front of Confederate Hall for those entering the West Gate.) The parking lot will be immediately after. Wait for the group near the walk up trail.


MARTA PARK & RIDE LOT
Free public parking in Stone Mountain Village

From Hwy 78 take exit 5 - stay right for a half mile - then a quick exit to E. Ponce/Stone Mtn. Village. At the end of the ramp turn left. Drive a mile or so into town. Turn left on East Mountain. Turn right on Fourth Street. There you will find the MARTA park and ride.
 

Notes:

Parking fee inside the park is $20 or $40 for annual pass.
